The measurement to take: floor to top of mattress
Measure from the floor to the top of your mattress, with any topper. Amerisleep advises a bedside table whose top is within 2 to 4 inches, 5 to 10 cm, of that height, so you can reach it lying down. Example: with a mattress top at 55 cm, Bennis 2 drawers (50 cm), Yanpai (54 cm) and Colin (55 cm) are within 5 cm; Bennis 3 drawers (65 cm) is at the 10 cm limit and suits higher beds better.

Leave a gap with the bed
Amerisleep advises leaving at least 2 to 3 inches, 5 to 8 cm, between the bedside table and the bed so the space does not feel cramped. Also check that the drawers can open fully without hitting the bed frame.
