In short. Choose a rug 30 to 50 cm wider than your sofa, so that it sticks out 15 to 25 cm on each side, and keep at least the front legs of the sofa on the rug. For a 2-seater sofa (about 150 to 180 cm), take a 160x230 rug. For a 3-seater (about 200 to 220 cm), take a 200x290. For a large or corner sofa, take a 240x340. Under a coffee table or in a reading corner only, a small or round rug of 100 to 180 cm is enough. At Deko District, 98 rugs are in stock, from €25.20 (Yuri round jute rug, 100 cm) to €836.40 (Marisol, 240x340). The 200x290 size has the widest choice: 54 models from €144.90.
Prices and stock updated in October 2026. Product pages list the 200x290 size as "290x200".
Which rug size for which sofa?

| 3-seater | about 200 to 220 cm | 200x290 | Tug 290x200, €144.90 |
| 3-seater, narrower room | about 200 to 220 cm | 190x290 | Harbor 190x290, €216.90 |
| large or corner sofa | over 250 cm | 240x340 | Marisol 240x340, €836.40 |
| coffee table or reading corner only | any | 120x150 to 150x200, or round 100 to 180 cm | Jaya 150x200, €127.50, or Yuri 150 cm, €54.90 |
How to calculate the right rug size
- Measure the width of your sofa, armrests included
- Add 15 to 25 cm on each side: the rug should be wider than the sofa so that the seating area looks anchored
- Keep the front legs of the sofa on the rug, or all four legs in a large room
- Leave 30 to 50 cm of bare floor between the rug and the walls
Worked example. A 210 cm sofa + 2 x 20 cm = 250 cm. A 230 cm long rug is too short, a 290 cm long rug fits: choose a 200x290. In a 15 to 25 m² living room, the 200x290 is the most common choice. Below 160x230, the rug looks lost in front of a 3-seater sofa.
Before ordering, mark the outline of the rug on the floor with masking tape and walk around it for a day.
